Last Tuesday, August 15, 2023, took place the opening of the Declarant Course. The Customs Department of Aruba, in cooperation and teamwork with the Aruba Trade & Industry Association (ATIA), provides this course to 32 participants who daily duties consist of performing customs declaration procedures for goods that are imported to, and exported from Aruba.
In the presence of the Minister of Finance and Culture, Mrs. Xiomara Maduro, the Acting Director of the Customs Department of Aruba, Mrs. Corinne Cabenda, the Director of ATIA, Mr. Herrick Henriquez, and Head of the Declarant Course, Mr. Marcelito Pablo and the lecturers, welcomed the participants and gave a general explanation of the course content. This is the sixth course to be organized. The objective is to enable Brokers and importers to perform the task of declaration, as well as the fulfillment of all Customs formalities, more effectively and efficiently. In turn, this greatly facilitates trade. This course has many benefits as brokers and importers gain more knowledge of the legislative side of Customs such as the National Ordinance regarding Import, Export, and Transit (LV IUD), more knowledge of the import duty tariff book, customs valuation, the Asycuda system, and other customs procedures.
